Volunteering with VVSD's Stand Down

Join HKS@SD as we volunteer for Veteran's Village San Diego's (VVSD) Annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans at San Diego High School's Athletic Fields. HKS@SD will be helping to distribute water to participants, as well as providing general assistance.  An annual 3-day event, Stand Down was begun by VVSD in 1988 as an outreach program for homeless veterans and their families, and has since been duplicated by 200 other communities across the country. Stand Down has been recognized as a national model for returning homeless veterans to the community with jobs, housing and other assistance. and was featured on the television program 60 MINUTES in 2010.  This event is currently limited to 10 volunteers.
